Open, introductory session bringing attendees together to begin dialogue and identify critical issues for discussion.

1:15 - 2:45 p.m.                       Creating a Culture of Equity

Creating a culture of equity takes a multi-pronged approach, focused on all areas of the institution. How do we as CEOs create the space and lead efforts that impact student outcomes? How well prepared are we to do this work? Where are the sectors of campus most active in this effort? As newer CEOs where will you start? All this and more in this workshop is designed to help CEOs assess where they are and what steps to take next workshop designed to help CEOs assess where they are and what steps to take next.

3:00  – 5:15 p.m.                     CEO/Trustee & CEO Board Relationship

Fostering an effective relationship with elected Trustees and the District’s Governing Board is critical to success and probably the CEO’s greatest challenge; one for which prior experience does not provide much opportunity to master. In this session, CEOs with experience at both the college and the district level will facilitate dialog using case studies on the critical role of the CEO in fostering effective relationships with Trustees and in supporting and developing highly functioning governing boards.

Saturday, July 20

9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.           Finance/Enrollment Management and Advocacy

This session focuses on examining some tools of the trade to successfully perform the art of balancing prudence and risk in planning to move an institution forward.  From a review of the fundamental fiscal reports to a digital tool that has variables used to predict moving trends on enrollment and SCFF, this interactive session will leave all attendees better equipped to manage and set vision in the areas of fiscal and enrollment management.

Professional development and support for California’s college leaders is a critical investment in the future of our institutions. The CEO Leadership Academy (CLA) is designed by California Community College CEOs for California Community College CEOs. All CEOs are welcome to attend the CEO Leadership Academy, but we strongly encourage CEOs in the first three years of their role to join us.

The Academy provides the opportunity for CEOs to focus on the unique challenges and opportunities confronted by leaders of California Community Colleges. In a small group setting, you will create a cohort through building relationships with colleagues that will prove beneficial for years to come.
