It is more important than ever for California community college stakeholders to be engaged in advocacy efforts at the federal level to ensure our colleges can continue to offer quality public education to California students. The League has identified several critical federal advocacy issues and developed supplemental documents to assist you in advocating for California's community colleges.
Food for Thought Act
The Community College League of California & the Affordability, Food & Housing Access Taskforce are proud to be joining Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) co-sponsoring the Food for Thought Act of 2019 (H.R. 4065), which would create a demonstration program administered by the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) within USDA making grants available to community colleges to provide free meals, including snacks, to eligible food-insecure students.
The 2019 Federal Talking Points is a resource to assist you in your advocacy efforts on capitol hill. Click on the link below to download this year's talking points. For questions please contact Ryan McElhinney at firstname.lastname@example.org.
