Trustee Nan Gomez-Heitzeberg Appointed to California Community College Board of Governors

 

The Community College League of California proudly acknowledges the appointment of Trustee Nan Gomez-Heitzeberg, First Vice President of the CCCT Board, to the California Community Colleges Board of Governors. The League’s leaders are confident in Trustee Gomez-Heitzeberg’s outstanding ability to represent our community colleges in this role and look forward to supporting the continued collaborative efforts between the League and the Board of Governors.

I have long been a champion for our students working as a trustee and on a campus to support student success for the most diverse student population in higher education” said Trustee Nan Gomez-Heitzeberg. “The Board of Governors has provided clear guidance with Vision 2030 and I look forward to the work that is ahead.  Over 1.9 million students are counting on us." 

It has been my honor and pleasure serving alongside Trustee Gomez-Heitzeberg on the CCCT Board,” said Andra Hoffman, Trustee for the Los Angeles Community College District and President, California Community College Trustees (CCCT) Board of Directors. “Her many years of experience as a community college educator, administrator and Trustee along with her knowledge and understanding of our system, make her the perfect choice for the California Community Colleges Board of Governors. I look forward to her leadership and I applaud Governor Newsom for appointing Nan to this role.”

We are confident Trustee Gomez-Heitzeberg’s new role will continue to strengthen the relationship of collaboration between the two organizations.” 

Nan Gomez-Heitzeberg has over 40 years of experience in higher education, both in the classroom and as an administrator. Her Kern Community College District career started as a professor at Porterville College. Gomez- Heitzeberg has served many roles in her career including, Acting President, Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs and Student Services, Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dean of Instruction and Executive Director/Associate Vice Chancellor of the District’s Child Development Centers before retiring. She is currently a member of the Kern Community College District Board of Trustees, First Vice President of the California Community College Trustees (CCCT) Board and a member of the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) Board of Directors. Her recent appointment to the California Community College Board of Governors is a continuation of her commitment to representing the students of community colleges, and furthers her reputation of excellence in leadership.
