Community College League of California Issues Statement in Support of Governor Gavin Newsom Signing State Budget

SACRAMENTO, CA – The Community College League of California released the following statement regarding Governor Gavin Newsom signing the State Budget:

"The 2019-2020 Budget Agreement signed yesterday by Governor Gavin Newsom demonstrates an overdue and essential investment in locally-approved capital projects at several of our California Community Colleges. The League welcomes this critical investment in California's future and applauds the increase and expansion to Cal Grant Awards supporting community college students, General Fund early payments for PERS and STRS pension obligations, and maintenance of the Proposition 98 statutory split. As the legislative session advances, we will continue to advocate for a total-cost-of-attendance financial aid framework that will address prohibitive non-tuition costs hindering community college student success. Lastly, we'd like to thank our districts and colleges who participated in this year’s budget process and helped to advocate for our 2019 priority requests."
