CCCT and CEOCCC Boards Adopt Joint Resolution Condemning Hate Crimes Targeting AAPI Community

SACRAMENTO, CA – In light of continued events against the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community, the California Community College Trustees (CCCT) Board and the Chief Executive Officers of California Community Colleges (CEOCCC) Board adopted a joint resolution condemning the surge in hate crimes targeting Asian Americans at its April joint board meeting. The CCCT and CEOCCC’s joint resolution affirms the League's commitment to supporting AAPI students, faculty, staff, and administrators at California’s community colleges.

Considering the increase in hate crimes against AAPI individuals since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Community College League of California recognizes now more than ever the importance of working with its CCCT and CEOCCC Board leadership to help end racism through educating our communities on the rich history, culture, and contributions of Asian Americans. The League stands in solidarity with Asian Americans across California’s community colleges and calls on all citizens and leaders to join us in condemning racist attacks against AAPI individuals, in all forms.
