California Trustees Elevated to the National ACCT Board and its Committees

SACRAMENTO, CA – The Community College League of California (League) is pleased to announce six California Community College trustees were elected, re-elected, and/or appointed to national leadership positions on the Washington, D.C.-based Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) Board of Directors and its Committees. All members were sworn into office October 17-19 at the 2019 ACCT Leadership Congress in San Francisco. These trustees will voice California’s needs and bring our community colleges to the forefront of the national dialogue.
The League would like to extend our congratulations to the following individuals on their commitment and dedication to advocacy on the national level:

  • Meredith Brown, Peralta CCD
    Appointed to a one-year term as Chair of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee and a one-year term on the ACCT Board of Directors
  • Stephan Castellanos, San Joaquin Delta CCD
    Re-elected to a second three-year term on the ACCT Board of Directors (Pacific Region)
  • Judy Chen Haggerty, Mt. San Antonio CCD
    Elected to a three-year term on the ACCT Board of Directors (At-Large)
  • Deborah Ikeda, State Center CCD
    Elected to a two-year term on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee (Pacific Region)
  • John Leal, State Center CCD
    Re-elected to a one-year term to serve as Pacific Regional Chair
  • Jim Osterling, Pasadena Area CCD
    Appointed Chair of the Pacific Regional Nominating Committee
