California Community College Trustees Elect 2021-22 Board Officers at Annual Business Meeting

SACRAMENTO, CA – On Monday, May 10th, community college trustees from across the state convened for the California Community College Trustees (CCCT) Annual Business Meeting hosted by the Community College League of California. This is the second year the annual meeting was held virtually due to the state’s current health and safety restrictions. The annual meeting included the election of the 2021-22 CCCT Board Officers:

  • President: Kenneth A. Brown, El Camino CCD
  • President-Elect: Marisa Perez, Cerritos CCD
  • First Vice President: Andra Hoffman, Los Angeles CCD
  • Second Vice President: Sally Biggin, Redwoods CCD

In addition to the abovementioned officers, the CCCT Board gained six new members who were elected in April (one incumbent member was re-elected). These trustees will serve three-year terms from 2021-2024. New officers of the CCCT Board assume their new positions effective immediately.

“I am very excited to continue the work of Immediate Past-President Adrienne Grey as we head towards a post-pandemic world. This year, more than ever, California Community College Trustees will be at the center driving their district’s vision in college access, equity, and student success,” said Kenneth Brown, CCCT Board President. “I look forward to working with the Chief Executive Officers of the California Community Colleges (CEOCCC) Board, the Board of Governors, and the Chancellor’s Office as we continue to be the model and set the standard for community-based public higher education in the country.”

As the newly elected CCCT Board President, Kenneth Brown will serve as the voice for trustees across California’s community colleges and will help guide the CCCT Board in taking positions on policy issues that come before the California Community Colleges Board of Governors and the California State Legislature.

“President Kenneth Brown, President-Elect Perez, and Vice Presidents Hoffman and Biggin bring a wealth of experience, intelligence, and equity-minded leadership to their roles representing the over 400 trustees serving our state’s community colleges. These trustees and their colleagues statewide are committed to the always essential mission of our community colleges and I look forward to continuing our work together,” said Dr. Larry Galizio, President and CEO of the Community College League of California.

The annual meeting also included a report on the association’s current work, the introduction of newly elected board members, and an opportunity for trustees from across the state to provide direction to the CCCT Board on major issues facing local boards and their districts.
